ABOUT BOBBIE

Bobbie Sandoz Merrill, MSW, has enjoyed a diverse career that includes an active counseling and consulting practice. She's a nationally known parenting and school consultant and an internationally recognized author, award-winning columnist, school co-founder, and professional speaker.

Bobbie believes humanity has a higher potential than the one we're fulfilling and that kindness is the key to getting there. She also believes that being kind is not as difficult to achieve as humans have made it out to be and challenges herself and others to create a better world by being consistently kind in all the rooms of our lives, regardless of the circumstances. She helps those interested in reaching this goal with her books and programs on how to hold onto kindness in our partnerships, parenting, friendships, schools, and workplaces. She further challenges us to achieve a kind relationship with other countries, other species, our environment, and our world.

Her books include Parachutes for Parents, a uniquely loving and effective parenting guide, In the Presence of High Beings, chronicling her decade of swimming in the wild with dolphins and whales, and Settle for More (co-authored with her husband, Dr. Tom Merrill) on the art of loving relationships. Bobbie received the Hawaii Headliner Award from Women in Education for her professional achievement in the field of communication and was identified as one of the top five successful women of Honolulu by The Honolulu Magazine.

Bobbie has a master’s degree in clinical social work with a specialization in child development; a graduate degree in education; advanced training in specialized trauma treatment techniques for children and adults; and is trained in a unique and effective conflict-resolution technique. She earned a BA in English and Psychology in the United States and a Certificate of Foreign Study from the Institute for American Universities affiliated with the University of Aix-Marseilles, France.

A mother and grandmother, Bobbie currently lives with her husband, Tom, and consults in person and by phone in multiple states and countries with individuals, couples and families as well as with schools, corporations, treatment centers, and churches.
